checking a list he wrinkled his nose. his next gym challenger was apparently a member of rocket. though he only knew that because he recognized the name of newcomers that were in around the same time he was on the sub. apparently this guy had been a recruit... Rowan Wrynn was his name. interesting. it would be fun to battle against someone else who was in rocket. it meant there was less to hide and less to worry about. when he heard his name he peered over the edge of the railing on the upper level. it was where he sat and did... paperwork. ew. and waiting for competitors on the days his gym was open. "up here, i'll be down in a moment." gathering up the pages he tucked them into the desk they had given him and grabbed his pokeballs. down the hidden ladder he went and found himself walking to the arena. "welcome, hope you're ready to battle!" he personally wasn't but apparently this was his life now. but that was fine. this was all fine.

it seemed like Rowan Wrynn didn't want to waste any time. that was fine. he could respect the fact that he was ready to battle it up. especially since this would give him a chance to test out some of the kinks in his battle strategy. just because they were both rockets didn't mean he was going to go easy on him. especially not when being a gym leader was his new partial job. that meant he needed to take this a bit more seriously. even if he hated being serious.

"alright slushie, let's kick some ass!" releasing the arctovish from its confines inside the pokeball. while it didn't seem like a water type dragon could do much against another water type dragon of course glitch had a few tricks up his sleeve. "hope you don't mind if we take the first move, ancient power slushie."

rocks gathered around the arctovish as it concentrated on powers long lost from its ancient ancestors. of course since he was an abomination of a fossil those ancient ancestors were probably extremely confused. but nonetheless they went forward, not starting off the battle with his ace in the sleeve yet.

"oh, twister, that's a good one." it was a good counter to the flying ancient rocks meaning that he would be able to protect himself from them. smart move. very smart. he would have to start thinking about more strategic moves really. and that was fine. after all that was part of being a gym leader. "aurora veil and straight into the twister slushie!" it seemed like a strange move but while his pokemon would take a bit of damage but it would also stop any other moves from the kingdra to hit him. double the protection while they waited on the next turn to hit. he was already planning for his next move forward with this, at least depending on how the next move went. after all he couldn't control what his opponent did. but he could just adapt and get better and better.

he scowled as Rowan Wrynn began to make it rain on the field. he didn't like getting wet. it was gross and reminded him all too well that he hated to swim. "this is gross rowan! it's gonna get my shoes all soggy!" but it couldn't be helped. after all he was going to have to deal with gross things like this whenever he was a gym leader. it just meant he would need to make some adjustments to his stage to cover himself from when people used attacks like this. it was a learning experience. he hated learning experiences. but with slushie still swirling around content in the twister he realized now was a good a time as any to unleash the fish.

it was harder for the pokemon to move on land but now he could use the twister as a launching point, right at the kingdra. and with rain dance in effect he would be able to do even more with it. "rend it slushie!" while using freeze-dry would probably be the right move here he wanted to take advantage of the speed boost given by the spinning twister slinging the large fish fossil towards the kingdra. gils flared and solidified the arctovish was ready to slice and dice this pokemon with the speed boost. "oh, i have to thank you for the rain dance actually by the way, now slushie can slip and slide on the field much faster!" his pokemon's mobility issue solved by the enemy.

he resisted the urge to cheer whenever the attack worked. it had been risky but the payoff had been pretty great. though now it meant that he wasn't really sure where to go from here. the fischious rend left it a lot closer than it wanted to be. so dodging the dragon pulse would have been nearly impossible. so they didn't bother to try. arctovish were known for their defensive capabilities so while it hurt, there was no way that they were out yet. not when there was so much more to be done. "that was a really good hit rowan." he had to give it to him. at least arctovish wasn't weak to dragon moves. "let's chill it down!" its mouth opened and cold air began to rush out. a blizzard was racing towards the seahorse pokemon. the fact that it was raining already meant that the water began to freeze as well, causing it to pelt down harder onto the field.

now the stage was set. it was cold and wet and gross. "you're the one who made it rain! i'll make us something warm to drink after the fight." after all they would be fine if they just warmed up after. plus blizzards didn't last forever. "let's hit him hard, freeze them slushie!" ice skating across the field the large toilet shaped pokemon slid carefully, even colder ice gathering on it's face and gills to strike down the kingdra the best he could. freezing the pokemon out would be the best way to do this. and then they could hopefully move onto the next part.

it wasn't that the hit ended up taking slushie out, not when it was a hydro pump. but he also didn't think it was fair to let the water type keep battling when it'd already done his best of work. taking out one of the opponent's pokemon was a good job on it's end. so glitch was ready to let him rest for now. "kingdra fought hard, it's a shame that freeze-dry is a bit of a hard sell. let's see how we do in this next round." he released jerky from it's pokeball. "this is jerky, he's ready to kick some butt." electricity crackled over him as this time glitch waited for the opponent to make the first move.
